Choreography (1971) by Frederick Ashton (1904 – 88)

Tales of Beatrix Potter was created in 1971 for a film, bringing alive with astonishing accuracy the famous images and stories of Beatrix Potter: to a score specially created from popular Victorian and Edwardian melodies, such colourful figures as Jemima Puddleduck, Jeremy Fisher, Mrs Tiggywinkle and the irrepressible Peter Rabbit come to vibrant life on stage.

I loved this and so did my seven-year old son. He gave Les Patineurs 9/10 and Beatrix Potter the same. Beatrix lost half a point because the owl is only supposed to bite off *half* Squirrel Nutkin’s tale and another half point because Peter Rabbit doesn’t do much.

I love Beatrix Potter and friends.
Beatrix was far more than just a ‘fluffy animal’ writer.

Due to proceeds from her very successful books and later her inheritance, Beatrix was able to buy many working farms. On her death she left over 4,000 acres to the National Trust. It is one of the biggest legacy’s ever made.

    She was an amazing woman!
