Song: Johnny Coppin – Gloucestershire Wassail

“But it is in the old story that all the beasts can talk in the night between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in the morning (though there are very few folk that can hear them, or know what it is that they say).” – from “The Tailor of Gloucester” by Beatrix Potter

Johnny Coppin is one of (if not THE) most under rated songwriter that UK has produced. The 3 Decameron Albums from the 1970s were brilliant.

I have sang this Wassail myself at some Choral Concert in the last 10 years or so. I thought it was called somtheing else other than Gloucester…. Sussex Carol even???
