I feel it is well written and very engaging, but the ending left me feeling like it was unfinished. I was wondering if something was missing. did you run out of room? then I saw the additional details – but those few lines still didn’t work for me. There should be more. Peter thinks there is no problems, but is that true? What kind of problems might he run into? Maybe the chickens didn’t wake up. Maybe he had forgotten that chickens don’t lay colored eggs. What if the farmer came looking for his chickens? Maybe the chickens resented being kidnapped and refused to work.

It was a good start. if this was for a school paper you will probably get a good grade. If you want to get it published as a children’s story, you might want to flesh it out. Complicate the plot a little more. You started out with Peter having some kind of moral conviction that he went against. Why not have him learn some kind of lesson from this. Should one always follow the pack and do what they feel is wrong just to get ahead? It is obviously a children’s story Do you want to teach children it’s ok to selfishly use others for their own benefit

Just some things to think about, for what it’s worth. Maybe I’ve gone a little deeper than you were planning.

I like it. But it feels mostly like a set up for some larger event. There doesn’t seem to be a clear conflict, climax, or resolution. It’s definitely neat and good, just doesn’t feel complete. Was this part of a larger work you were doing?
